sandalwood, sweet basil, frankincense, rosemary.

It’s one of those gorgeous, tantalizingly hot Toronto summer days. You sit on the back deck fanning yourself with whatever you can find. There’s a loyal assemblage of culinary herbs in mismatched pots around you. The sun shines on with no foresight of setting. Your friend pulls out a leather notebook that looks like it’s been through the wringer. Sit back and listen.
